The Positive Futures project and COP30

The Future is Now!

"Political participation and the construction of the future become a form of belonging and a way to gain legitimacy by identifying the interconnections between future imaginaries and conceptions of nature based on ancestral and current practices and knowledge."

How we participate in this construction of the future and which visions of the future guide our actions depend on many different factors, both individual and social. The fact is that major global events like COP30 often serve to project all the hopes and desires for a better world.

Environmental and Climatic Disinformation in Northern Brazil: Dynamics and Impact in the Context of COP-30

Disinformation in the Legal Amazon, especially as Belém hosts the COP30, has been the subject of various recent studies. Reports from the project “Amazônia Livre de Fake” INTERVOZES, 2023; 2024) identify three central segments of local dissemination: right-wing organizations and activists, political figures, and journalistic outlets.

Technical note TFFF: controversial solution to deforestation

In this study, we aim to analyze Concept Note 3.0 of the Tropical Forest Forever Facility (TFFF) , constructed by Brazil and the result of a process that began at the 28th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP 28) of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) , held in Dubai, in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). We will present the organizational elements of the TFFF defined to date, analyzing the creation of this financial mechanism.
